Leo Borgelin: Content marketing has taken the world by storm. With all the social media channels taking action to reduce their saturated platforms the impact your content makes matters even more.
You can’t just create content and hope an ideal audience sees it. That may have worked when social media channels first open up, but the game is different now.
There are more people playing. The only way you are going to get your target audience to convert is by making each impression count.
1 – Represent your Content Well
We all know that content marketing is important. But why are so many marketers not getting the results that they want? Because they forgot one of the essences of internet marketing: managing all points of contacts!
Each point of contact that your audience will have through engaging with your content needs to display and promote your brand identity.
The videos you are creating or sharing needs to resonate with your company’s value. You will never see a DC marketing campaign feature an energetic, enthusiastic video.
Why? Because DC superhero films are nothing like Spongebob.
There is nothing similar of Spongebob that could help promote the identity of DC cinematic movies. Their world is dark and noir. Unless Squidward was the main character, your best to stick with content that promotes your identity.

2 – Impressions Matter
People say first impressions count. No kidding. But the last impressions has an effect as well. With quality content, you want to give your audience a feel that says “hey, I’m just like you”, “I understand”, or something emotional.
Make impacts on your audience that they’ll remember. Don’t forget that most of your audience is either viewing your content on a computer or a smartphone.
Neither of them can reach out and give hugs. Have your content do it for them so they’d be more willing to do the call-to-action you are going for.
3 – Different Platform, Different Content, Same Message
Sometimes the message you say is more meaningful on different platforms. Imagine if the President of the United States only gave speeches through Snapchat instead of media outlets like NBC or CNN.
People wouldn’t take him too seriously. The same thing applies to the channels you use for content marketing. Your content is going to be preferably more business and professional oriented on Linkedin while you’re engaging pictures are more suited for Pinterest or Instagrams.
It’s not that you can’t be on all platforms, but you need to mold your content to suit the platform. And remember, always keep your message intact.
4 – It’s More than the Content
What happens if I told you content marketing is more than Just managing your content? You’d probably think it’s not content marketing anymore, rather something else.
Nope, not even close. Rather what if I tell you about securing the effectiveness of your content? What do I mean? I hope you don’t answer questions with a question in your content like I just did there. You need to provide as much access to your content as possible without giving up quality.

Videos, blogs, your website and social media platforms all needs to be well design and portray the image that you want. Not having a blog means you are giving up authority. It’s a lot easier to get a message across through a blog. Not having videos means you can’t explain yourself in simple terms to your target audience.
Sharing other people’s content is good and there is nothing wrong with it, but having your own content is better and more original.
Your website’s design needs to have a personality. Don’t leave it blank. You’d be boring your viewers. Put pictures and videos that people want to engage in on your site. What do all of these have to do with your content?
You don’t put content out into the world just so it’s there. Each piece of content you put out needs to have a goal in mind. That goal should target the impression you wish to make.
Every point of contact matters.
From your site to your blog to your Facebook Page. All of it. You put content out not for people to be happy. That’s a benefit of the audience for engaging with your videos. You put content out there to promote them to take some action.
Whether it’s now or in the future, your content should eventually direct to action. With all points of contact with your brand giving off the impression that you want, the audience will soon turn into a crowd of buyers. Only one click from going to your site.

Yes!! 1st impressions SO do matter, and I totally agree with you that you have to pkg your msg differently for each platform. I once heard someone say this about that – “Would you wear the same thing to a bar as you would to the office?”
