Google puts a lot of emphasis on the mobile side of it’s search engine. Do you know why? It’s because most people use the internet with their smart phones and tablets. It makes sense that they would put such a high priority on responsive and friendly mobile blogs.
You ,as the webmaster, also want to provide your visitor with the best web experience possible. You need three things to make your WordPress blog awesome. You need great content, a fast website and a mobile ready site. I’ll assume that you got the other two covered. Let’s get to the other!
Get Your Blog Mobile Friendly
As you saw in the YouTube video, all you have to do is get into the dashboard section of your WordPress theme and go to the plugins section. Back in the day, I used to use the WPTouch plugin. It automatically turns your blog into a mobile site for visitors on smart phones. Yea, it’s not bad and gets the job done.
These days, if you want a free solution then I’d go with WordPress’s Jet pack plugin. Not only does it turn your blog into a powerful mobile site but it comes with a ton of other goodies and features. Here are some of them:
- Makes your site faster
- Protects your site from hackers
- Uses the WordPress backbone
- Adds social buttons
- And much more…
Too be honest, I don’t use WPTouch anymore and I’ve deactivated the mobile feature from my Jet pack plugin because a while back I decided to shell out some cash for a premium theme that is mobile responsive. You don’t have to do the same. If you are in the market for a premium theme then I recommend Genesis. It’s over the $100 price range put it’s well worth it. Not only does it have your mobile problem covered but it comes with a ton of features. Let’s just say that I’m a happy customer.
