There are hundreds of blog traffic tips out there. Some old and ineffective, and some still useful in garnering massive amounts of blog traffic.
On top of that, bloggers and webmasters everyday come up with new and ingenious ways to drive traffic to their blogs and squeeze pages.

I was fortunate enough to gather 9 of the best minds to share their best blog traffic tips for 2017. Some of them are bit on the technical side, and some require you to socialize and share your content in unique ways.
10 Best Blog Traffic Tips For 2017
Mick Meaney from Profitcopilot.com – Radio shows. Right now everybody’s rushing to the Internet and leaving traditional methods wide open.
Write a short report about how something newsworthy relates to, or impacts your niche, then put your own twist on it – add a quote with your website address as the source, and email it to shows.
Most of them are crying out for content and each show typically has 3 hours of airtime to fill.
Even if you’re ignored the first few times, keep going as the producer begins to recognize your name you’ll notice your exposure levels increasing.
That can result with you being invited as a guest, which of course opens other doors.
Nadalie Bardowell from Itsallyouboo.com – By an incredible margin, Pinterest is my number #1 blog traffic tip for 2017.
I’ve been pinning my own pins to my blog posts for only 5 weeks now, and from day one my traffic spiked from average of 10 or less visitors to now 150-250 on average (with quite a few days close to 400).
My pinterest strategy is simple, join as many group boards as possible and use Tailwind to schedule my pins daily. I also use Pinterest in combination with posting in blogger Facebook groups asking for my Pins to be shared.
My second best source of traffic, as you probably guessed, is Facebook, specifically from participating in daily sharing threads in multiple groups. All in all, the key is joining groups both on Pinterest and Facebook and playing well with other bloggers.
Lukasz Zelezny from Zelezny.uk – I would like to give you my number one tactic I’ve used for years. It’s called the GAP analysis .
How it works, you must use at least two of these online tools:
- SEMRush
- Searchmetrics
- SpyFu
- Sistrix
Step 1: Export your competitor’s keyword list from one of the tools listed.
Step 2: Export your competitor’s keyword list AGAIN, from another tool listed.
Step 3: Repeat process for another competitor.
Step 4: Do it again with another tool listed.
Step 5: Now, export your own keywords for your own site on the same two tools you used to on your competitors.
Note: You should now have 6 lists, 2 from one competitor, 2 from another competitor, and two from your own site.
Step 6: VLOOKUP to see where YOU ARE NOT ranking, and where your competitors simultaneously are. Now you know your gaps, you can start optimizing existing content.
You can go deeper with GAP Analysis, narrowing your list to (for example) only keywords ranking in the top 10, with specific ranges of search volume.
Some of you may know the Domain vs. Domain tool from SEMRush. Its the perfect way to start especially if you’re not experienced with Excel.
However, after a while, You may find Excel way more efficient.
This is why I call this the GAP Analysis – you’re looking between the GAPs….
Scott from Incomesuperhero.com – Pinterest is by far the best free traffic source I’m using in my business right now.
To get the most out of Pinterest you should focus on using specific keywords in all your board and pin descriptions.
This will help your stuff show up when people are searching terms related to your blog or business.
Pin high quality items and pin often. Make sure you’re sharing stuff on a daily basis if possible. There are tools like BoardBooster and Tailwind that can help with this.
Find and join group boards in your niche. Share a good mixture of your pins and others’ pins to leverage the followers.
Marina Lotaif from Yestotech.com – The best traffic source so far in 2017 is Facebook Groups.
They’re a great means to network with others in your niche, to offer help, and to get established as an expert in your field.
You can even share links to your freebies in designated weekly threads. To maximize your traffic with Facebook groups, follow the three steps below:
- Request to join a Facebook group. Here is a Power List of Facebook Groups. It’s a comprehensive list of over 75 Facebook groups worth joining, and their respective promo days.
- Once you have joined a group, be active. Answer questions, ask some of your own, and be useful overall. The more you interact, the more you will be remembered.
- Use ‘you’ language. Even if you are posting a link to your freebie, always remember to answer “what’s in it for me?” as read by your ideal audience. This will increase your click-through rate.
The main advantage of Facebook groups is that you are hanging out in places where your audience is, and experiencing first hand their doubts and desires.
Not only do you have a place to interact, but also a knowledge base to know what to write or create next.
Janice Wald from Mostlyblogging.com – My best traffic tip has to do with growing my blog traffic with Twitter.
First, this year, I have made a more concerted effort to promote my posts in more places which will help me get more exposure on Twitter.
Specifically, I joined a new tribe on Triberr. The tribe has members with tens of thousands of Twitter followers. We promote each other’s links. I am also spending more time at Viral Content Bee and Retweeting.
In addition, I am using Twitter tools such as Crowdfire, Tweepi, and StatusBrew. Both my Twitter following has grown, and my traffic coming from Twitter has grown.
Morgane Peysson From Morganepeysson.com – I’d say that the best traffic source is referrals, to me there is nothing more valuable than someone giving recommending my work.
In a world of Google, bought testimonials/reviews and people just in it for the profit I feel like it’s the safest option.
Sure you can Google but what are the odds of finding that small business that may not have the funds or know-how to be at the top of the search results.
I aim at giving my clients the best value, experience and quality that I can. This helps me get referrals.
I put my heart into it to make sure that everything is perfect because at the end of the day, I want them to tell someone else “hey, you need this? Go see this person, she went above and beyond for me and you will not be disappointed”.
It might not be the BEST per say but it’s the most valuable and to me it’s what matters most.
Neal Cole From Conversion-uplift.co.uk – Create a glossary of terms for your field of specialism to improve your SEO footprint.
This allows you to demonstrate your knowledge and expertise in your sector or special interest topic. But it also provides an opportunity to improve your site’s authority from an SEO perspective.
If you ensure you include practical examples and implications with each definition of a term you improve your chances of being ranked higher in Google and other search engines.
I implemented this strategy in August 2016 and saw my traffic more than double within three months. For one term ‘Hedonic framing’ I am now at the top of Google rankings.
Priya Florence from Blogbrandz.com – Here is a technical approach to avoid page errors that should improve your Google rankings and in turn improve traffic.
You should implement AMP Pages for WordPress using both the plugins below. AMP stands for accelerated mobile pages..
The second plugin allows you to customize your AMP pages. Plus, it allows you to insert Adsense banners.
After implementing these two plugins, we managed to remove the errors that were preventing our AMP pages from displaying on our client’s site. We saw a significant increase in traffic from our new AMP pages.
Ike Paz from IMG – I gotta agree with Scott and Nadalie, Pinterest has been a windfall of traffic for my site. That being said, keeping up with the pinning schedule can become a bit tedious.
Luckily, there is a tool I use that not only schedules my pins for me, but it also looks through my account to find when my audience is most active. This little tool then schedules my pins at the peak sharing hours for my niche.
The tool I’m talking about is Tailwind (affiliate link), I swear by it!
Side Note: Both Scott and Nadalie recommend you use a scheduling tool for Pinterest and I do too.
It has helped me get a lot more traffic from Pinterest and on to my printable products –
Another amazing feature about Tailwind are Tailwind tribes, very much like Pinterest boards but with bigger accounts sharing your pins.
However, you need special invitation links to join these tribes. No worries, I got you covered. Here are 5 Tailwind tribe links…

Interesting, I do agree Pinterest is a gamechanger though recently with their changes many are saying group boards aren’t bringing as much traffic as they once did. Creating a group board and optimizing my account greatly changed everything for me. Enjoyed the post
Well said Heidi,
Group boards aren’t performing as they once did. Too many ppl on them pinning anything they find.
That’s why I recommend tailwind tribes, it’s Pinterest board with better accounts providing stellar content
