Don’t you dare waste another dime buying a professional looking landing page (or a squeeze page for that matter) when the poorer looking ones convert the best.
That’s right, less-professional landing pages out perform more polished ones when dealing with certain types of paid traffic.
Today, I’m going to show you how to create a landing page quickly, easily and the best part is; it will cost you next to nothing! Check out how its done:
Create an Effective Landing Page
Before you begin creating your landing page, you’re going to need a few things. Don’t worry, none of the software I recommend will cost you a dime:
- Gimp – open source photo editing software.
- NVU – html open source editor.
You will also need Amazon’s AWS cloud service. It’s super cheap and well worth it. Once you installed all the items I mentioned, it’s time to get to work.
First, open up the GIMP editor in a new file (1000 x 500 pixels). Click the font button to start typing and write in your sales hook. Make sure you make your hook nice, big and centered!
On the bottom left, put in your ‘call to action’ using the rectangle creation feature. On the bottom right, you should put an image that conveys to the prospect what the offer on the next page is all about.

You can get free pics on Google images, but make sure you download images that are ‘free to use’.
Slide your new creative image into place and shrink it (or enlarge it) so that it fits nicely with your sales hook and call-to-action. Save your creation as a .png file.

Dump your newly made landing page image into a bucket in your Amazon AWS account. Make the image public and copy the link.
Now you are going to open the NVU html editor and paste the image link into it, like in the video. Click the ‘source’ button and add your tracking codes and offer link. Save the html document.
Finally, go into your files and rename that last part of the html document from ‘.html’ to ‘.php’. This is important for your tracking software but that’s for another post.
That’s how you build them landers!
Now there’s nothing stopping you from cranking out as many landing pages as you want. For a new campaign, I might create 5 or 6 landing pages to test.
Make sure they are nothing alike so you have a nice test pool. Remember to track the ones with the best click through rate! All the best with your affiliate marketing.
