I was recently on Pat Flynn‘s Facebook group, he asked a question on behalf of his friend. The question went something like this:
“I have a site that gets a good amount of sales per month on a digital product I created. I have the chance to promote my competitor’s product, should I? or should I just stick to my own digital products?“
You can’t and shouldn’t be the end-all be-all for your niche. I would not only sell my competitor’s product but I would differentiate myself from the other affiliate marketers by adding bonuses to incentivize the sale.
Build Profit & Value At The Same Time
These bonuses should be custom bonuses (No PLR junk) and in the video promo/review you should say who you are and give proof that you know what you are talking about.
Example, I run a small baby shower site where I sell a particular type of baby shower digital product. I know my customers also need physical products (favors, decorations etc..) so i sell them on affiliate related products on the backend (email funnel).
I get a large amount of traffic and sales. I then take that real time info and show people in the IM/MMO niche that I have these set of skills.
If there is an ethical IM product that deals with the traffic sources i use then I create custom bonuses for that product, screen capture it all, upload it to YouTube and link to the post on my site (not the affiliate link). The post itself has the details of the product, bonuses and affiliate link.
I also email my list, send a push notification, and at times inform my Facebook group about it too.
This is a form of launch jacking that builds your brand and adds real value for your traffic.
